Our Story
We are the Smiths— The family behind the scenes at Wake The Wild.
Five years ago, we realized that the modern school structure did not align with our family values and rhythms. That’s when our homeschool journey began.
In 2024, we went all-in and traveled cross-country as a family for 8 months—drove 28,000 miles, visited 24 national parks and national monuments across 33 states, from Key West, FL to Kenai, AK and back.
We called ourselves the “All In Family” because we were all in for adventure, discovery, and growth. For us, being all in meant embracing homeschooling on the road, exploring the outdoors, and chasing adventure together.
When we returned home to Naples, we wanted to keep pursuing meaningful educational experiences with our kids, which led us to Surf Skate Science. After shark tagging, helping release turtles, and engaging in hands-on science, we realized we wanted to bring that same spirit of learning and adventure to the West Coast of Florida.
That’s how Wake The Wild was born. Adventure, Discovery, and Growth aren’t just words—they’re the heart of every experience we create.

By building Wake The Wild, we dream of creating a community where homeschool families who love adventure, action sports, and nature can come together. It’s about more than events or classes—it’s a lifestyle of curiosity, freedom, and wonder.
Our family will be right there in the boat, on the rock wall, and in the community with yours. We desire to grow our kids in confidence, character, and connection, while also creating opportunities for other families to do the same.
