School of Wake
HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT
Get ready for four hours on the water with Wake The Wild + Kirby's School of Wake!
School of Wake is different from our weekly classes: this is a recurring pop-up experience offered on select dates throughout October-April.
✓ DROP-OFF EXPERIENCE — School of Wake is currently our only drop-off program. Parents do not need to stay for the session.
✓ LIMITED SPACE — Each session is intentionally kept small to maximize riding time, personal attention, and individualized coaching.
✓ ALL SCHOOL AGES + ALL SKILL LEVELS — From students getting on a board for the very first time to experienced riders ready to progress.
✓ TWO BOATS + MORE RIDE TIME— Each 4-hour session is split between two boats and two experiences, giving students plenty of time on the water while keeping groups small and instruction personal.
2 HOURS WITH 4X WORLD CHAMPION KIRBY LIESMANN
Students receive professional, individualized wakeboarding instruction from 4-time Wakeboard World Champion Kirby Liesmann.
Riders wear helmets equipped with BBTalkin headsets, allowing Kirby to communicate directly with them while they're riding. Instead of waiting until the rider is back in the boat to give feedback, Kirby can coach them in real time—helping students make adjustments, build confidence, and progress throughout their session.
From getting up for the very first time to working toward a new trick, Kirby meets each rider at their individual skill level.
2 HOURS OF WATER SPORTS + BOATING
On our second boat, students keep the adventure going with the Wake The Wild team.
Depending on the group and conditions, students may experience wakesurfing, tubing, ZUP boarding, and other activities on the water. It's four hours designed to keep students learning, riding, and having fun on the water.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED IS PROVIDED
We provide the equipment students need for the experience, including boards, life jackets in a variety of sizes, helmets, communication equipment, and more. Students will spend their day behind Mastercraft wake boats equipped with modern wake technology and riding quality wake and surf equipment.
BEGINNERS ARE WELCOME!
No previous wakeboarding or wakesurfing experience is required.
School of Wake is open to all school ages and all skill levels, from first-time riders to experienced athletes looking for professional coaching.
CHOOSE YOUR EXPERIENCE
School of Wake is offered on select dates throughout the year, giving families the flexibility to choose the experience that works best for them.

Full Day | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Want even more time on the water? Students can register for both sessions and stay with us all day, giving them additional riding time, coaching, and opportunities to progress.

Meet The Pro
Kirby Liesmann
Kirby’s School of Wake began in 2008 after Pro Wakeboarder, Kirby Liesmann’s first offseason. Kirby began wakeboarding at the age of seven, began competing at age 14, rode Jr. Pro in 2006, and has been riding in the Pro division since 2010. His passion for teaching is rooted in his past experience at the “school of hard knocks”. In Kirby’s early wakeboard years, he was uncoached and fearlessly pursuing new tricks on his own. This resulted in trying tricks he was fundamentally unprepared to learn and he ended up taking many hard falls. “There were a few falls that could have led me to quitting,” he stated. Because of this, Kirby has grown a passion for helping riders at all levels progress in a fundamentally correct and safe manner.
